"I'll Be Home For Christmas"

This year we will present:

"I'll Be Home For Christmas"

It's Thanksgiving Day 1941, and the West family members- are busy preparing for the holidays at home. Joined by their zany friends, also their neighbors, there is no shortage of activity as they eargerly await the return of Norma's husband. At the center of of their world stands the family radio- where each person finds the reflectionof their individual hopes and dreams. From programs like "the Shadow" and "The Lone Ranger," to the Big Band sounds of 1941 and the highly anticipated "Big Christmas Broadcast", the radio provides a break from the routine as America edges closer to war. When the world crashes in on them, however, the familywill have to re-evaluate those hopes and dreams as the face an uncertain future.

                                                Characters
Howard Or Alice (50-60ish and Sings):
a wry occasionally obstinate but ultimately very wise "patriarch or matriarch"

Norma (30ish & Sings): She is weathering her separation from her husband with strength and patience but she is also frightened about the future. She feels it is up to her to "hold the home together"

Angie (20ish and Sings): The younger sister; impulsive, passionate overly dramatic, but still sensitve and loving. Her dream is to find adventure and romance.

Micky or Millie (8-10ish): Adventurous and inquisitive, always has hands in something wants to be involved in everything. Has a special relationship with the grandfather and is close to his entire family.

Danny (25ish): He is somewhat clumsy and hapless mailman. In spite of his awarkardness, he is also charming.

Sid (50ish): The classic eccentric who thinks nothing of playing a violin at all hours or walking into someone's apartment at any time.,

Lil (50ish): The building's maintenance supervisor, she is no-nonsense person who has learned to fend for herself and fix whatever needs fixing.

Jerry Brainard (30-40's): He is the quintessential radio announcer. we don't learn alot about him but he is deeply affected by Pearl Harbor.
